Dress and Gown by Galanos and One Dress by Rya Aghayan and Bob Mackie, Owned by Edie Adams. First is a heavy cream twill wrap Galanos design, the front placket covering the four hooks and six covered snap closure, six top stitched lines extend along the lapel and to the hem, the same detailing repeated on the belt with a large gold buckle. The second dress, by Ray Aghhayan and Bob Mackie for Elizabeth I, is in a brown knit, the straight sheath design interrupted only by darts at the bust. With high neckline and long sleeves, finished at the cuff with three self covered ball buttons and loops, the unlined dress opens at the back with a zipper. Third is a floor-length long-sleeved gown in a cream ribbed weave, princess seams giving shape to the dress with embroidered flowers in cream outlined in black. The back is unusual for Galanos, buttoning from neck to floor in a series of ten opalescent one inch buttons, supported with a snap between each, and opening to a finely finished cream charmeuse lining. The pieces are in Very Good condition, though there is mild discoloring to the front, collar, and lining of the cream dress. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
