Description

Courrèges, Pierre Cardin, and Galanos for Amelia Gray Pieces, Owned by Edie Adams. As the hem lines raised in the 1960s, Edie Adams led the way, and here we present three mini dresses by three trend setting designers. The Courrèges design (acquired through Bonwit Teller), a cream twill weave A-line dress with short sleeves, with a Peter Pan collar and scalloped hem, opens from the neck with an insert of black velvet that falls as a pleat and is overlaid with a black velvet bow that falls to the thigh. Opening at back with a center zipper that is crossed with a band buttoned at either side, the interior mimics the exterior with a cream lining and black inset at front. The third treasure is a culotte design by Galanos for Amelia Gray in navy blue and cream knit, the navy blue center section with double center pleats front and back, and pleat leading to the side panels in cream, a top stitched belt with large rectangular nickel silver buckle finishes the design, zipper at back opens to full lining. Pierre Cardin's black knit dress (purchased through Bonwit Teller) is a simple canvas for his playful applied design in white vinyl. Sold through Bonwit Teller, the back zipper exposes a full lining with a contrasting cream band at the neck. The three pieces are in Very Fine condition and all you need now is a pair of go-go boots. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
