    Description

Ceil Chapman and Don Loper Pieces, Owned by Edie Adams. Edie Adams was very purposeful in her acquisition of designer-made clothing, they served as her "working wardrobe", but also she appreciated the designs as works of art in their own right. The masterfully draped Ceil Chapman ankle length gown in black satin, the draped bodice crossing in the back transitions with a belt at the waist to a wrap skirt; gathered at the left, spilling down and sweeping back up in tucks. A zipper at the side reveals the stayed bodice with internal skirt. Don Loper's skirt and top creation is in emerald green satin, a full mid calf length skirt with tucks at the waist, is finished with a self-covered belt with bow at front and hook closure at back. The fitted top, closed with a zipper at back, has cap sleeves, straight neck line front and back and flares at the waist. The third design, also by Chapman, is a strapless gown with jacket is in a patterned satin, the skirt tucking back inside itself in pleats at the right side and opposite a side zipper reveals the stayed bodice and unlined skirt. The short waisted jacket is form fitting with a shawl collar, long sleeves fold over at the cuff. All three ensembles are in Fine condition and ready to be added to your closet and treasured as did Edie. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
