Buddy Ebsen's "Jed Clampett" Costume Hat. Buddy Ebsen gave memorable performances on the stage and in such movies and TV shows as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Barnaby Jones, the Davy Crockett TV movies, and Northwest Passage, but he will always be best known for his performance as "Jed Clampett" on the classic '60s sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. Though he didn't have much book learnin', Jed made up for it in common sense and patience, and the character stands as one of the all-time great TV patriarchs. This grey felt hat was worn by Ebsen when he made public appearances in-character during his later years, the original having become too delicate to be used. It is in Very Fine to Excellent condition with most of the wear and soiling added to give it a suitably battered look. As the original hat and Jed Clampett costume is still owned by the Ebsen estate and unlikely ever to be made available for purchase by the public, this is one of only a handful of such pieces of Ebsen's personal Hillbillies memorabilia that will ever be made available to collectors. From the Buddy Ebsen Estate.
