Bozo the Clown Signature Costume (ca. 1970s). Vintage original instantly recognizable Bozo the Clown signature (3) piece costume ensemble consisting of (1) turquoise-blue, long-sleeved polyester zipper-front shirt jacket with 2- attached white shaggy pompoms and sleeves trimmed with exaggerated crème cuffs trimmed with wavy red fabric and each cuff embroidered "Bozo" in cursive red lettering, (1) matching flat-front trousers with snaps and hook-and-eye closure with attached powder blue and white pleated ruffs to each leg opening with matching wavy red trim, with a light red satin-finish pleated waist sash, and completed with (1) vintage original custom-made powder blue and white-colored clown ruff trimmed in the same wavy cherry-red trim, with 3- snap and hook-and-eye closures. This specific Bozo ensemble was used by licensed performer Gerry Sher, who portrayed Bozo during the 1960s in Northern California at the approval of rights holder Larry Harman. Items exhibiting wear and age including spotting and toning, noticeable to the cuffs and neck ruff, some damage to right arm cuff, and some thread pulls throughout. Accompanied by a pair of white gloves and white suspenders for display purposes. Provenance: Heritage Auctions, "The Comisar Collection", June 2, 2023, Lot #89047.
