Batman (TCF TV, 1966-1968), Yvonne Craig "Batgirl" Signature Costume Ensemble. Vintage original complete (6) piece signature costume ensemble worn by Batgirl (Yvonne Craig) during her many appearances alongside the Dynamic Duo on the hit superhero television series, Batman, consisting of (1) sparkly purple long-sleeved Lurex bodysuit with darted waistline, feet stirrups, rear zipper and hook-and-eye closure, zipper wrist closures, and center Bat-patch finished in bright yellow with beige border, retaining internal 20th Century Fox wardrobe label handwritten "Yevone C. II", (1) signature Batgirl cape with lavender satin panels lined in saffron satin with scalloped peaks at the hem, with hook-and-eye and snap down ring collar and snaps at the neck, back, and exterior (for folding saffron portion onto the lavender), and retaining internal "20th Century Fox" bias label, (1) custom hand-sewn Bat-cowl constructed of two-tone light and dark purple sateen fabric over a stiff felt inner shell, with rigid dark purple bat ears on each side, integral eye mask, and integral lavender satin chin strap with hook-and-eye closure, retaining internal handwritten "#1 Yvonne", (1) pair of royal purple polyblend gauntlet gloves with 3- lavender "fins" sewn to each with internal padding to maintain shape, (1) Batgirl utility belt constructed of gold-tone rows resembling scales mounted to a black elastic stretchable interior, with 4- "utility boxes" constructed of cardstock wrapped with yellow-painted leather, and 1- purple and yellow Bat logo to center, with rear hook-and-eye closure, and (1) pair of purple leather heeled Chelsea boots. Items exhibiting production use and wear including toning to the lighter lavender colors, soiling to the cape, signs of detachment to the Bat-logo on the bodysuit and some loose threading throughout, adhesive residue on the utility belt, and scuffs and wear to the boots. Cape shows fragility towards the neckline, and cowl also in delicate condition but intact with closure system fragile, and some staining to the gauntlet gloves, all as expected with hand-made and production-used wardrobe of this age. Lot is accompanied by a brunette wig and brassiere for display purposes. Excessively rare, this is the first Yvonne Craig signature Batgirl ensemble we have ever handled. Provenance: Debbie Reynolds Costume Collection, acquired directly from 20th Century Fox in the early 1970s; sold via private treaty in 2002. Stewart took great pride in displaying his collection and had many custom-built mannequins in the likeness of the character made for his costumes. This lot includes one of those mannequins, which is in used and well-loved condition and will require special shipping. The option is yours if you would like to receive the mannequin.
