An Errol Flynn Military Dress Jacket from "King's Rhapsody." United Artists, 1955. Traditional in design, double-breasted, made of beige cotton, decorative gold-colored epaulettes, collar, and sleeve trim, label reads in part "Morris Angel & Son, Ltd. / Errol Flynn;" worn by the actor as he portrayed "Richard, King of Laurentia" in the scene where he receives guests at the royal palace and then when he presents his newborn heir from the balcony to his subjects. (Please note the lining of this piece is torn and stained and the decorative elements on the front of it are faded due to use and age.)

Military style tunic

This military style tunic was worn by the character "King Richard," portrayed by legendary actor Errol Flynn, in the 1955 motion picture musical "King's Rhapsody." The cream tunic with slate blue collar and cuffs has double rows of gold buttons on the front and gold appliqué ribbon designs on the sleeves. The garment was made by Morris Angel & Sons Ltd. and has the original tailoring label sewn inside with the name "Errol Flynn" handwritten.

Mr. Flynn first wore the tunic in the scene where King Richard and the Queen Mother of Laurentia (Marita Hunt) receive guests at the royal palace. Unbeknownst to Richard, his wife Princess Christiane (Patrice Wymore) invites his old flame Marta Karillos (Anna Neagle) to the event in order to create an awkward moment. The Queen Mother insists Marta leave the country but Richard intervenes. He again wore the tunic in a scene where Richard honors tradition by presenting his newly born heir to his subjects from the balcony of the palace. A poster image of Flynn wearing the tunic is later seen briefly when being defaced by Laurentian subjects who have turned against the monarch.

"King's Rhapsody" was based on the musical play by Ivor Novello. The film version featured the second screen pairing of Flynn and popular British star Anna Neagle, who had previously worked together on 1954's "Let's Make Up." The film also featured Flynn's real life spouse at the time, Patrice Wymore, playing the role of Christiane.
