DescriptionAn Ernest Borgnine United States Navy Cap, 2006. Traditional design, tan cotton, black felt and elastic trim, black patent leather visor, gold-metal "USN" anchor symbol affixed to front, inside label reads in part "Ernest Borgnine / Chief Gunners Mate / 1935-1945;" worn by the star when he gave a speech to the Navy in 2006; Borgnine himself served in the United States Navy for ten years from October 1935 to October 1941 and then from January 1942 to September 1945; he also famously portrayed Navy man "Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale" in his hit ABC Television series, "McHale's Navy," which ran from 1962 to 1966; included with an oversized color photograph of the actor wearing the cap, mounted to board, inscribed to him in silver ink by a member of the military. (Please note the photograph is in only marginal condition.)
