    Description

A Vivien Leigh Period Bonnet from "Gone With The Wind." Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1939. Grayish-beige silk, gathered top, ruffled brim, two trailing pieces of fabric at back, 'Selznick Int. Pictures Inc.' label reads "Scarlett / 20-108-WW-435," another label reads "SL 74.153.1;" carried by the actress as "Scarlett O'Hara" in the scene where she and "Rhett Butler" [Clark Gable] come back from their honeymoon and talk about restoring Tara; interestingly this hat was made for Leigh to carry in this scene because she did not like the appearance of her hands; purchased at a Butterfield & Butterfield auction in Los Angeles during one of their famous Western Costume Company auctions. (Please note the material is discolored and the lining is frayed due to age.)
