A Vivien Leigh Iconic Straw Hat from "Gone With The Wind." Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1939. Large, round brim, distinctive jute trim around the crown and brim, back of crown designed at an angle; together with a green velvet chin ribbon (which is a later replacement); worn by the actress as "Scarlett O'Hara" at the beginning of the film in a number of scenes including when "Mammy" [Hattie McDaniel] is dressing "Scarlett" for the barbeque at Twelve Oaks, when "Scarlett" socializes with all the men at the BBQ, and when "Scarlett" famously first sets eyes on the notorious "Rhett Butler" [Clark Gable]; purchased at a Camden House auction in Beverly Hills.

The current owner was on vacation in Italy when this hat came up for auction so he had his friend, actor Fred Crane (who portrayed "Stuart Tarleton" in "GWTW"), buy it on his behalf. When he returned from his trip, Crane threw a celebratory party for him AND the hat!
