A Rudolf Nureyev Costume Jacket from the Ballet "Don Juan," 1974. In a period Elizabethan style, black silk with black velvet detailing on shoulders, front, and waist areas, nine button front faux closure (one button missing), (real closure is hook and eye), white linen collar and cuffs, label reads in part "National Ballet of Canada /...Dancer Nureyev" (though the name is faded almost to illegibility); worn by the star dancer in the highly acclaimed John Neumeier-choreographed ballet that toured Canada and the United States throughout 1974; bought by the current owner in the late 1980s at an AMFAR (or other AIDS-related) charity auction where it is believed that Nureyev donated this himself; included with a black and white photograph showing Nureyev in the jacket. (Please note there is make-up residue on the collar and the overall jacket is somewhat faded and dirtied due to age and use.)
