    Semi-Tough
    Ed Bookman (Robert Preston)

Grey two-piece Pinstripe western suit. This suit was worn by the character "Ed Bookman" played by Robert Preston in the 1977 film, "Semi-Tough" starring Burt Reynolds and Kris Krisofferson. The jacket has notched lapels (no button hole), four curved slash pockets, a two button front closure, yoke detail with stitched lapels (torn at right sleeve). The jacket and pants both include labels from "Cotroneo" inscribed with the actor's name, "Robert Preston" typed in black ink. The flat front pants have western-style belt loops and no cuff. *The dress shirt seen is for display purposes only.* Mr. Preston can be seen wearing this garment moving around his office on his hands and knees. The entire office has no furniture, and all desk and office items are placed low at ground level. Billy Clyde Puckett (Burt Reynolds) has come to see the football team owner Ed, at his "Bookman Enterprises." Billy is confused seeing that Ed is rambling while walking on all fours; Ed reveals he practices "movagenics" and that he's "creeping" not crawling around his office. He says the whole point of the motion is to get "in line with gravity" so the body and consciousness is protected on all sides, pointing out that Billy has been suffering on the football field and needs to begin practicing movagenics. He insists however, that there isn't enough time before the next game so Billy should get "Pelfed" which is a sort of painful deep tissue massage, made to rebalance the body. "Semi-Tough" is a 1977 comedy film starring Burt Reynolds, Kris Kristofferson, Jill Clayburgh and Bert Convy. The film satirizes modern religions and self-help groups, telling the story of two pro-football friends Billy Clyde and Shake, who develop a love triangle with Barbara Jane, the daughter of the football team's owner Ed Bookman (Robert Preston). Shake joins a self-help group led by Frederick Bismark (Bert Convy) while Billy tries to win the heart of Barbara Jane. The film was based on a book by author Dan Jenkins, and earned a WGA Award from the Writers Guild of America for "Best Comedy Adapted from Another Medium". This item is in good screen worn condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume hose.
