Description

A Prince Shirt from "Purple Rain." Warner Bros., 1984. Made of a light-colored grayish satin, gathered high-neck collar, three layers of ruffles down the front, gathered, 'puffy' long sleeves, ruffled faux French cuffs, faux pearl buttons down the placket, shoulder pads, inside collar label reads "Prince;" worn by the singer as he portrayed "The Kid" in numerous scenes throughout the film including when he sings 'Beautiful Ones' and then later in the finale when he sings 'Purple Rain,' 'I Would Die 4 U,' and 'Baby I'm a Star.' (Please note the cuff buttons have been removed and there is very slight snagging and discoloration throughout due to wear and age; also, Prince would have had more than one of these shirts during production since it was his main wardrobe.)

PROVENANCE:
The current owner obtained this shirt from Juanita Escovedo who obtained it from her daughter, Sheila E. (Prince's drummer before she set out on her own career), who obtained it directly from Prince. A 'Letter of Authenticity' outlining this and signed by Escovedo is included with lot.
