A Pair of Boxing Trunks from "Rocky III." Metro Goldwyn Mayer/United Artists, 1982. Intentionally distressed gold and black satin trunks with fake blood and "Rocky" embroidered to front leg, worn by Stallone as "Rocky Balboa" in his first fight with "Clubber Lang" [Mr. T].

"These trunks represent how at this time Rocky was not paying attention to what really mattered in his career which was focus. He was unfocused and more into glamour and his image. And he had gotten a little unrealistic, thought he was invincible. These trunks represent the 'golden boy' image which eventually led to his downfall. So there's a reason why everything in this film is a certain color -- the golden gloves, the golden shorts - it was to represent the mistake he was making by moving away from the seriousness of his craft and going towards the more glamorous side. It cost him. His ego got in the way and that's what the story is built on."
