A Cher Mermaid Costume from "Mermaids." Orion, 1990. An over-the-top ensemble consisting of: a dress made of pink and turquoise sheer rayon with a bustier-style top adorned with translucent beads and cups simulating seashells, spaghetti straps also adorned with miniature beads, skirt portion further decorated with translucent flat circular 'beads,' with a literal fishtail hem as a padded 'fishtail' is sewn to train of dress and held up by a beaded leash attached to a faux pearl bracelet worn on the wrist; also included is a crème-colored wool sweater adorned with thousands of translucent sequins, a pair of sheer rayon turquoise gloves with ruffles, and an elaborate headdress made of turquoise streaming ruffles decorated with faux pearls, seashell beads, and ribbons; worn by the actress as she portrayed "Mrs. Flax" in the dramedy co-starring Bob Hoskins, a young Winona Ryder, and an even younger Christina Ricci. (Please note some pieces from the headdress have fallen off over the years but it is still mainly intact.)
