    A Charlie Chaplin Vest from "Monsieur Verdoux." United Artists, 1947. Made of grey wool, double-breasted with four sets of button closures, two slit pockets, back made of tan satin, Western Costume Co. label reads in part "No. 32000 #8 / Name C. Chaplin / Chest 37 1/2," further W.C.C. stamp on lining; worn by the actor as he portrayed the title role in this film that he co-wrote with Orson Welles in addition to starring in it and directing it; Chaplin also garnered an Academy Award nomination for 'Best Writing, Original Screenplay' though incredibly he lost out to Sidney Sheldon for "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer!" (Please note two buttons are missing.)
