A Cavalry Hat from "The Horse Soldiers," "Circus World," "The Undefeated," and Rio Lobo." United Artists, 1959; Paramount, 1964; 20th Century Fox, 1969; National General Pictures, 1970. Made of black felt, brown cord 'acorn' hatband with further black ribbon detail, black velvet cavalry insignia on crown, inside has piece of tape with a handwritten annotation in pencil reading "John Wayne #1;" worn as Wayne portrayed "Colonel John Marlowe," "Matt Masters," "Colonel John Henry Thomas," and "Colonel Cord McNally" in the four different films. (Please note this hat is dusty and shows signs of wear plus it has a hole at the top of the crown.)
