DescriptionA 'Bib' Shirt from "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." Paramount, 1962. Made of navy blue cotton, long sleeves, ten button 'bib' front, tuck-in tab on placket, Western Costume Co. label reads "No. 2201-3 / John Wayne / Chest 46 / Collar 17;" worn as Wayne portrayed "Tom Doniphon" in the film directed by John Ford and co-starring James Stewart, Vera Miles, and Lee Marvin; likely worn in other films as well; featured in the artwork for the film's poster.
Wayne wore this style shirt in many films but stopped wearing them after the 1965 Paramount release of "The Sons of Katie Elder;" this is the only one of its kind in the auction.
