A gray herringbone wool jacket with black plastic buttons and charcoal silk lining, worn by the quintessential Sherlock Holmes, Basil Rathbone, in his first appearance as the iconic detective in director Sidney Lanfield's unparalleled adaptation of "The Hound of the Baskervilles;" label reads "United Costumers/ Hollywood/ Basil Rathbone;" the South African-born actor would go on to portray Holmes in fourteen films, and "Baskervilles," the movie that cemented Rathbone as the character for generations to come, is often considered one of the best adaptations of Conan Doyle's work.
