Description

Bell X-2 supersonic jet miniature from Quantum Leap. (NBC, 1989-1993) Highly detailed model of the Bell-2 Supersonic Jet constructed of resin and mixed plastics with wood and metal sub-structure. Expertly painted with "USAF", "U.S. Air Force 6674" and "Bell Aircraft X-2" markings. The rear of the plane is open. It measures approx. 60 in. long with a 46 in. wingspan. Removable nosecone reveals model pilot. This model was used in the pilot episode of "Quantum Leap" when "Sam Beckett" (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of fictional test pilot Tom Stratton in 1956. The Bell X-2 was a rocket-powered, swept-wing research aircraft built to investigate flight characteristics in speeds approaching Mach 3 (nicknamed "Starbuster"). In production used very good condition. Provenance: The Grant McCune collection.
