Description

W. C. Fields' Golf Trophy, circa 1932. A 12" sterling silver trophy, inscribed: "Presented to W. C. Fields by the Sleepy Hollow Country Club as a token of their appreciation of the World's Greatest Parlor Golfer". An avid golfer, Fields worked the sport into the short films "The Golf Specialist" (1930, his first "talkie"); the instructional "How I Play Golf, by Bobby Jones" (1931); "The Dentist" (1932), in which he made use of the golf routine he developed for the Ziegfeld Follies during his vaudeville days, and others. In Very Fine condition with some areas of tarnishing and mild wear, but no dents, dings, or noticeable scratches.
