Alan Bates "Actor Dramatic-Star" Tony Award trophy and Medallion for His Performance in Butley (1974). Vintage original trophy constructed of a bronze, nickel-plated medallion designed by art director Herman Rosse and affixed to a nickel-plated pewter swivel mounted to a tiered black base. The Tony Award recognizes excellence in the live Broadway Theater and is the most prestigious stage award in the world. The face of the medallion features the comedy and tragedy masks and the verso features a profile of the award's namesake, Antoinette Perry, and is embossed and engraved with, "The League of New York Theaters presents to Alan Bates, Actor Dramatic-Star 'BUTLEY' for Distinguished Accomplishment in Theater 1973." With an engraved plaque reading, "American Theater Wing, Tony Award" affixed on the face of the base pedestal. The trophy measures 8.25" x 4" x 4." Accompanied by a 2.5" round Delia Austrian Medal Awarded by the Drama League of New York for Distinguished Performance, in original case. Engraved on the front "Alan Bates, 'Butley' 1973." Exhibiting age, handling and expected patina. Engraved plaque affixed off center. In vintage Very Good condition. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
