Stan Laurel Signed Photo from 1913, Signed Stan Jefferson. A rare vintage b&w 8" x 10" photo of a very young Stan Laurel, inscribed and signed "Sincerely yours, Stan Jefferson/1913" on the front in black ink, and "To Edgar & Ethel -- all the best in the world old pal. Yours as ever, Stan" on the reverse in blue. Laurel was born Arthur Stanley Jefferson in Lancashire, England, in 1890. In 1910, he joined Fred Karno's acting troupe, where he was an understudy to Charlie Chaplin and toured the U.S. for the first time. The date on the photo places it during that early, pre-Laurel and Hardy era. The photo is in Fine condition with a crease along the right edge that ends in part of the signature, fading to the front inscription, damaged right-hand corners, mild to moderate toning on both sides, and some soiling to the reverse.
