Description

Sharon Tate 1963 Signed Christmas Card and Hand-Addressed Envelope. The New York City Grand Central Station postmark is December 27, 1963, so Sharon Tate was a bit late sending this Christmas card, bearing the cover words "Holiday Greetings," to her beloved grandmother "Nannie" in Houston, Texas. Inside the card the pre-printed sentiment reads: "With all good wishes for the year ahead," and Sharon writes in blue ink, "Merry Christmas Nannie, I wish all of us could have been together + what do you think of your new grandson to be?" She signs, "All my love, Sharon." Someone else has illegibly signed his name as well and added a sketch of a flower. Sharon was 20 at the time, and about to embark on a year of professional ups and downs. She continued her semi-regular role as bank clerk Janet Trego (in black wig) on TV's The Beverly Hillbillies, but was fired from a potentially star-making role in The Cincinnati Kid and replaced by Tuesday Weld. (Sam Peckinpah, the film's original director, had wanted Sharon to perform a nude scene -- and he was fired, too.) The envelope is hand-addressed by Sharon. The card and envelope are in Very Fine condition with only minor blemishes. The affectionate penned message and "All my love, Sharon" closing are bold and sharp, providing a charming presentation of a most sought-after autograph. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
