    Description

Regis Toomey Archive. An astounding collection of dozens of b&w photos spanning the bulk of Toomey's accomplished career as an actor, singer, and dancer. Toomey initially considered a law career as a young man, but gave in to the acting bug and quickly established himself as a musical stage performer (making the transition form stock performer to Broadway star) before breaking into movies and, later, television. A popular leading man in the 1930s and '40s, Toomey set a record with Jane Wyman in You're In the Army Now for the longest screen kiss in cinema history (three minutes and five seconds). The archive includes more than 100 vintage photos, mostly 8" x 10", as well as Toomey's personal prayer book, his passport, two photocopies of a signed letter from Frank Capra, an agreement signed by Toomey dated August 22, 1936, and a telegraph from Ronald Reagan dated August 12, 1988. The prayer book is in Good to Very Good condition with heavy wear to the cover; otherwise, the items are in overall Very Fine condition. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
