    Polly Adler Autographed Birthday Card and Books. This vintage birthday card is inscribed "Dear Mike. Yes, yes I know it's July 10th. Sorry to be late. Love," and signed by the infamous author and madam in blue ink. The card is accompanied by one paperback and two hardcover copies of Adler's 1953 autobiography A House is Not a Home; one of the hardcover volumes is signed by Adler on the flyleaf, the other is inscribed and signed by her on the flyleaf. A notorious brothel owner during the 1920s-'40s, Adler initially operated her business under the protection of mobster Dutch Schultz. The card is in Very Good to Fine condition with the spine almost completely split, and the books are in overall Fine condition with moderate wear to the dust jackets and page tanning to the paperback. The signatures on each item are big, bold, and clean.
