    Description

Maurice Chevalier Signed Sketch from the Brown Derby. A framed 11" x 14" caricature sketch of the French entertainer by Eddie Vitch, inscribed "At the brown Derby/From 1928 to 1958 and ???..." and signed and dated 1958 by Chevalier in black ink. This was one of many celebrity caricatures that decorated the walls of the legendary Brown Derby restaurant in Los Angeles for decades, and Vitch was the artist who began the tradition in 1929. This particular sketch is signed by Vitch in the lower right corner. In Very Fine condition with some mild age toning and heavy moisture damage to the bottom edge, largely smearing the date but not affecting the signature. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
