    Mae Clarke's Photographs from Stage and Early Film Career, 1922-29. This rare lot of 13 original b&w photographs from actress Mae Clarke's own collection includes her signature and inscriptions on some of the images, and her handwritten annotations on the reverse of each. Many also feature the photographer's stamp on the reverse. Included are two 5" x 8" shots of her in a ballerina costume at age 12; a 9" x 7.5" shot of her posing as first-prize winner in a 1922 pageant at the Ocean Pier Fish Market in Atlantic City; an 8" x 10" cheesecake shot taken on the roof of the Strand Theatre in New York, 1924; an inscribed and signed 8" x 10" portrait from Clarke to her father, 1924; a 5" x 7" candid of Clarke with her parents on the Atlantic City boardwalk in 1925, a 8" x 10" portrait from 1925; a 8" x 10" portrait taken in New York, 1927; a 7" x 9" vaudeville portrait taken in New York, 1927; a 8" x 10" cheesecake shot from 1929 ; a 8" x 10" Hollywood portrait inscribed and signed by Clarke to her father, circa 1929-30; a candid of Clarke arriving with her dog "Max" on a Los Angeles train "The Chief", to begin work on her first film, Big Time (1929); and a 8" x 10" candid of Clarke with her first agent, Leo Morrison, in 1929. In Very Good to Fine condition with age toning and minor wear. A few have edge and corner chips, and the 1929-30 portrait has two hole punches in the top border. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.
