Description

Lucille Ball's Notes to Husband Gary Morton. Revealing assortment of loving notes, eight in all, from Lucille Ball to second husband Gary Morton, all signed "The Missus" or "The Mrs." The cards acknowledge Father's Day and Christmas, and one of the latter reads "To the Guy who Rules the Roost -- from the Gal who Rules the Rooster!" with Lucy adding "I mean it!" next to the cartoon of the chicken and "Big Daddy" next to the cartoon of the rooster. Gary was apparently a bit sensitive about Father's Day, as Lucie and Desi Jr. were, of course, Desi Arnaz's children; in one of these notes (on Lucy's card stationery), she has written "You should have nothing but the best for Father's Day - Because you have certainly been a special Father - and a very special person to me - 'The Mrs.' " Nice evidence of the genuine affection that marked their 28-year marriage. "Rooster" has become unattached from Christmas card (but is included inside it); otherwise, the items are in Excellent condition. This lot will be accompanied by a letter of provenance from Susie Morton as the widow of Gary Morton, Ms. Ball's second husband. The lot is not offered by the estate of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
