Description

Lucille Ball's First Personal Letter to Gary Morton, Signed "Love You - Lucy." This 14-page handwritten letter was Lucy's first to Gary Morton, with whom she had fallen in love after her divorce from Desi Arnaz, has wonderful content that includes a reference to Desi Arnaz, notes about Lucie and Desi Jr., affection for Gary, and the sign-off, "Love you - Lucy." The undated letter (circa 1961) is handwritten in blue ink on pale blue "Half Moon Hotel and Cottage Colony, Montego Bay, Jamaica" stationery. Lucy begins by noting the time ("Monday 12:30 p.m."), writes that she's "covered with coconut oil" and addresses Gary, "Dearest 'Tall One.'" The rambling letter begins "I have not written a letter in years - literally - have dictated a few..."; she writes that this is her second letter today ("Just posted an angry missile to Desi and got that out of my system"). Lucy had gone to Jamaica with Lucie and Desi Jr. ("I'm very grateful to have this time with my children...but I do miss you every minute..."), and writes about the food, the natives, the cost of the resort ($155 per day), notes that "Little Desi" isn't feeling well, jokes that Lucie has two girl friends from Connecticut whom she's "trying to drown in the pool," laments what the humidity is doing to her hair ("I look like a red mop on a white handle"), and repeatedly expresses her affection for Gary, signing off "Wish you were here. Love you - Lucy." References to Gary, Desi, and her children, along with the "Lucy" signature, make this a most desirable letter, as does its length and humorous asides, and its content almost makes you feel that you know the lady. In Excellent condition. This lot will be accompanied by a letter of provenance from Susie Morton as the widow of Gary Morton, Ms. Ball's second husband. The lot is not offered by the estate of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
