    Description

Letter to Buddy Ebsen From Gene Autry on Ebsen's 90th Birthday, Signed by Autry. A charming letter to Buddy from Gene Autry, "America's Favorite Cowboy," dated April 4, 1998 and typed on Autry's handsome, 7.5" x 10.5" personal stationery, signed in blue ink "Gene." Autry congratulates Buddy on his 90th birthday, and expresses, "I have a couple of months on you, but it's nice to welcome another old timer to the nineties. Now I'm not sure the golden years are all they're cracked up to be. It seems to me I hurt in places I never knew I had and other parts can't find their way to the bathroom... Of course, the nice thing is we are still young at heart and always will be..." In Very Fine condition, with minor staining about an inch-and-a-half below the signature. Also included is a 7.5" x 10.5" mailing envelope addressed to Buddy's wife Dorothy, postmarked March 19, 1998, with Autry's "GA" stationery mailing sticker. Autry died October 2, 1998, about six months after writing this letter. From the Buddy Ebsen Estate.
