Judy Garland Signed Contract. A letter signed in full in green ink by Judy Garland, dated December 9, 1946, agreeing to renew a contract with Western Printing & Lithographing Co. of Racine, Wisconsin, to produce books about her -- i.e., paint books, paper doll cut-out books, and the fiction book Judy Garland and the Hoodoo Costume. The letter is also signed by Western Printing's assistant secretary and the Asst. Treasurer of Loew's Incorporated (i.e., MGM). The lot contains an additional copy of the letter and contract (unsigned), a photocopy of the original nine-page contract, as well as a letter dated April 15, 1948 , in which Western Printing notes that the Garland contract has been terminated and that the company should discard all plates, art and "electros" of (alas)Judy Garland and the Hoodoo Costume. Directions to destroy this letter after scrapping the material make it all sound rather sinister. At any rate, the Garland autograph is a beauty, and comes from the year of the release of The Harvey Girls. In Excellent condition. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.
