Description

Howard Hughes and Jean Peters Correspondence. This intriguing piece of history reflects a loving, yet odd, bond between Howard Hughes and the actress Jean Peters -- a bond that would not survive Hughes' eccentricities. Passed between the married couple (Hughes' isolation by this point had driven him to live separately from Peters), the correspondence deals with Hughes arranging for a 1966 royal blue car for Peters, noting that a '66 "would impress your friends a little more" than a '65. Even more intriguing are Hughes' comments on the impending evening: "Dearest Love. Do you feel like going to sleep early? if so, I will be presentable very soon and send signal. I love you a whole lot." An incredibly rare, earnest expression of love from one of history's most notorious recluses. The single page, with correspondence on both front and back, was written by Hughes in blue ink and by Peters in pencil. In Excellent condition with a center crease mark.
