Hellinger's Film Copyright Archive with Signed Correspondence from David O. Selznick, Others. This fascinating archive includes a signed letter from David O. Selznick (Dec. 11, 1946) to Hellinger regarding his request to use the Selznick-owned rights to the title "New York" -- presumably as a title choice for what would become Naked City -- commenting "Hitch feels most reluctant to give up the title..." Perhaps Hitchcock was sitting on the title rights for what would become Rear Window? Cornell Woolrich's original short story was written in 1942, so it's very likely! Also included is documentation confirming that Hellinger did, in fact, purchase from Hemingway the rights to Snows of Kilimanjaro for $75,000. Though the documentation does not state the story title, it does list the outrageous purchase price (for the time) and date, matching up with this little known fact -- and dated exactly one month before Hellinger's death. Also included are copyright correspondence and transactions and for Criss Cross, Act of Violence, Knock on Any Door, Brute Force, and other projects. In overall Very Good condition with mild yellowing and crinkling to some of the documents. From the Mark Hellinger Archive.
