    Hattie McDaniel Signed Letter Written To Red Skelton (1942). The letter is typed on green "Hattie McDaniel" headed paper, dated May 27, 1942 mentioning a newspaper article she had included with the letter (not present) "...just couldn't resist sending to the bad little boy who knows 'If I do it, I dit a whippin'. I'll bet that's just the way he is." She goes on to express her happiness at his Hollywood success and that she is in the Jack Benny - Ann Sheridan picture George Washington Slept Here and inviting to dinner "...I believe it was to be a chicken dinner, but if regulations continue we may end up eating hotdogs." Signed in ink "Your A. No. 1 Fan Hattie McDaniel. P.S. My best to Wonder - he's a great boy!", Framed with a still of McDaniel and a descriptive plaque. Overall measures 12.5" x 28.5". In Very Good Plus condition, the letter has a staple hole and tear to upper left corner and two hole punches to top edge, two horizontal folds, some toning to left right edge.
