Group of Interesting Paperwork Related to Some Like it Hot. United Artists, 1959. From the personal files of Tommy Plews, the property master who worked on the film starring, of course, Marilyn Monroe, including: 1) a note on Edmund G. Brown's [Jerry's dad] letterhead as Attorney General of California, dated "July 16, 1958," regarding the permit Plews needed to "Possess and/or Transport Machine Guns;" 2) the actual "Permit to Possess and/or Transport Machine Guns," dated "August 7, 1958," for "Ashton Productions" [the company that produced "SLIH"]; 3) another almost identical permit but dated "October 14, 1958;" and 3) Plews' business card from Paramount Pictures Inc. noting his name above "Property Dept." -- a fun little 'behind the scenes' documents showing that real and actual machine guns were used in this comedy; consigned to this auction directly by Plews' grandson. (Please note all pieces show wear appropriate for age.)
