Glenn Strange Signed Riders of Sundown Contract (1940). A Screen Actors Guild freelance contract dated March 19, 1940, engaging Strange for the role of "Bret Stockton" opposite Tex Ritter in the Western Riders of Sundown (released in 1940 as Cowboys of Sundown), signed by Strange on the back in blue ink. Glenn Strange, of course, later won major horror genre distinction as the Frankenstein Monster in House of Frankenstein (1944), House of Dracula (1945), and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948), and returned to his western roots as Sam the bartender on the TV's long-running Gunsmoke.
