Ernie Kovacs Signed Check. A business check for $100 dated September 29, 1960, signed by legendary TV comedian Kovacs to his mother Mary (who also endorsed the reverse) in blue ink. Kovacs' ad-libbed, often experimental style influenced comedic programming for years after his tragic death in an automobile accident. Shows such as Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Saturday Night Live, Captain Kangaroo, Sesame Street, and even David Letterman all owe elements of their style to Kovacs.
