    Description

Claude Rains Cards to His Daughter. This lot of six cards -- bearing reproductions of art or beautiful scenery, as was Rains' custom in selecting such cards -- were sent by the actor to his daughter and all signed in ink, "Love, Fa Fa." The images on the cards range from Van Gogh's Interior of a Restaurant to Marie Laurencin's Nymphet et Biche to a photo of British Isles countryside. One of the cards reached his daughter in Switzerland, and Rains wrote, "If you're still in the land of delectable cheeses, send me a tin one with your love. And here's mine to you." Five of the six cards have their original air mail stamps. Charming personal mementoes in Good to Excellent condition. From the Claude Rains Estate Archive.
