Charlie Chaplin Signed and Inscribed Copy of his Book, My Trip Abroad. Charlie Chaplin authored this book in 1922, and signed the inside in black fountain ink, "To my friend Karl Schmidt From the author 'As the saying goes' Charlie Chaplin June 15 1922." The book concerns Chaplin's "breathless trip to England and the continent," his weekend with H.G. Wells, his being kissed in Paris by the French cabinet, his meeting Pola Negri in Germany, and other adventures. Chaplin was in the wake of the world-wide success of his first full-length film The Kid (1921), between wives, and at the peak of his international stardom. Black and white photos chronicle the trip and show Chaplin with Wells and Negri, among many others; cover is tattered, especially at the spine, but front cover is mostly intact. Book in Fair to Good condition, autograph and inscription Excellent. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
