Carl Laemmle Sr. and Carl Laemmle Jr. Signed Letters. Carl Laemmle Sr., founder of Universal Pictures, and his son Carl Laemmle Jr., Universal's "Crown Prince," are two legendary names in Hollywood history's Golden Age. This lot contains letters to Mark Hellinger from both "Sr." and "Jr.", including a signed letter on "Universal Pictures Corporation" stationery, dated May 25, 1930, with "Junior" thanking Hellinger for "the nice things" Hellinger had said about All Quiet on the Western Front (which won Junior the Best Picture Oscar several months later); a signed letter on Universal Picture Corporation stationery from Laemmle Sr., asking Hellinger to correct inaccuracies he'd printed about him; a signed letter on Laemmle Sr.'s personal stationery, dated December 9, 1936, requesting Hellinger send him his autograph; a signed follow-up letter dated December 22, 1936, also on Laemmle Sr.'s personal stationery and thanking Hellinger for the autograph; and a signed letter on Carl Laemmle Jr.'s stationery, dated December 7, 1936, concerning bets the always-gambling Junior had made. The first four letters are signed in full, the fifth is signed "C. L. Junior," all in fountain ink. The letters are attached to scrapbook pages and are in Excellent condition. From the Mark Hellinger Archive. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
