Description

Billy Wilder and James Stewart Signed The Spirit of St. Louis Contract. A five-page contract dated February 28, 1956 on Warner Bros. letterhead, signed in black ink on the front page by both Billy Wilder and James Stewart. The contract gives permission for Thompson Valves to use Stewart's likeness as Lindbergh to promote its product for one year. Despite being 47 years old at the time, James Stewart lobbied Warner Bros. for the role of Lindbergh, and even underwent a strenuous diet and exercise regime to look more like Lindbergh in 1927 (when he was 25 at the time). In overall Fine to Very Fine condition with some discoloration along the edges. From the Billy Wilder Archive. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.
