Bette Davis ALS Regarding The Killers (to Mark Hellinger) and Related Original Photos from the Production. A handwritten letter from Bette Davis to Mark Hellinger on a 4" x 6" sheet of stationery, complimenting him on The Killers. Dated January 27, 1947, it reads in part: "In a tiny theatre in Whitefield, New Hampshire, last evening I saw 'The Killers' -- it is wonderful -- wonderful enough to sit down today and have to tell you -- your cast, your director -- your camera man. The whole presentation." The letter is accompanied by a laudatory telegram from screenwriter Ward Greene, and 17 b&w 8" x 10" promo stills for The Killers that feature Hellinger, Ava Gardner, Burt Lancaster, and Robert Siodmak. The letter and telegram are in Fine to Very Fine condition with tape reinforcement to the center; the photos are in Fine condition with some toning, wear, and binder holes to the edges of many. From the Mark Hellinger Archive. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
