An Orson Welles Group of Canceled Signed Checks, 1956. Ten total, all from the actor's checking account at Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles, the Melrose & Highland Branch, dating from November to December 1956, mostly typed then signed in blue, black, or red fountain pen ink by Welles (though two are entirely written out in his own hand), to places including "Brown Derby, Chasen's Restaurant, Bullock's, Magnin's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Jax, Inc., Museum of Modern Art, Alfred Dunhill, California Bookbinding" and "London Observer," all display various cancellation stamps and punch marks -- overall, a fun look at what Welles was doing during the holiday season of 1956; included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions.
