An Orson Welles Collection of 'Christmas Tree' Handpainted Christmas Cards, 1950s. Five total, all rendered in gouache on construction paper, all but one depicting various images of Christmas trees, two without writing, three with Welles' handwritten inscriptions such as "And a Happy New Year / from Orson Welles / Christmas 1954-55;" also included are two extra cards both signed by Welles but not painted by him; according to Beatrice Welles [Orson's youngest daughter], the cards that her father made were reserved for special family and friends only -- these ones evidently being extras that were not mailed out.
    5 1/2" x 7" and smaller
