    Description

An Audrey Hepburn Twelve-Page Handwritten Letter Regarding "The Nun's Story," 1958. Penned in turquoise fountain pen ink on notepad paper with 10 of the 12 pages still attached at top margin, dated "9th February 1958," to "Bob" who was Robert Anderson, screenwriter of the 1959 Warner Bros. film "The Nun's Story;" a lengthy and newsy letter where Hepburn discusses a number of subjects including gifts she gave to Anderson, her time in London studying ballet before she became famous, her thoughts on the Congo (where she wrote the letter while on location filming "The Nun's Story"), her thoughts on the film ("Am still high as ever on the script and defending it"), especially her wish that the "Father André" "leg-smashing" scenes not be cut [they weren't], her social life ("I got rather high on my third negroni and Fred [Zinnemann, the film's director] and I wept into our glasses because you were missing"), ending with a mention of her beloved Yorkshire terrier named "Famous" ("...bearing up very well...refuses to wear his pith helmet - so much fun I have with him (when) we go for walks at 6 A.M. - in the cool"); included with a black and white snapshot (with slight aging and discoloration evident) of a few local residents of the Congo with Hepburn's same-ink annotation penned on the back reading "Only one remained unturned" [unconverted to Christianity]; further included with its original transmittal envelope with the return address typed and reading in part "A. Ferrer / Warner Bros. / ...(Congo Belge)" -- overall, a unique perspective from the star of "The Nun's Story" -- the role that garnered Hepburn an Oscar nomination for 'Best Actress in a Leading Role' (with Anderson, Zinnemann and others from the production also nominated for Academy Awards in their categories); Hepburn did end up winning a BAFTA [British Academy of Film & Television Arts] for 'Best British Actress' for this role of "Sister Luke" -- one she said was her favorite.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
