    An Artie Shaw Group of Signed Letters to Bob Wilson, 1950s-1980s. Six total, all sent from the oft-married (to Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, and Evelyn Keyes, to name just a few) clarinetist to Bob Wilson, a noted Big Band-era musician, including: 1) the first one, typed on personalized notepaper, dated "October 5, 1952," sent to Wilson from Pine Plains, NY, discussing a book Shaw is writing called 'The Hard and Wiry Line,' signed in blue fountain pen ink "Art," with its original transmittal envelope; 2) the second one, typed on 'Font de la Salut' [a private home] stationery, dated "Oct. 21, 1957," sent to Wilson from Spain, discussing his beautiful house and giving advice on marriage (!), signed in blue ballpoint ink "Artie," with its original transmittal envelope, 3) the third one, a small Christmas card, circa 1960s, signed in black felt tip ink "Artie," 4) the fourth one, typed on personalized notepaper, dated "September 13, 1974," sent to Wilson from Westwood, CA, discussing his move to "the Coast," signed in black felt-tip ink "Artie," with its original transmittal envelope; 5) the fifth one, typed on personalized notepaper, dated "14 August 78," sent to Wilson from Newbury Park, CA, discussing yet another new house and a visit, signed in black felt-tip ink "Artie," with its original transmittal envelope; and 6) the sixth one, handwritten in black felt-tip ink on personalized notepaper, dated "12/22/80," discussing a gift and "Xmas," signed in same ink "Arturo;" overall, a fun collection illustrating Shaw's wit and sense of humor.
