    A W. C. Fields Large Collection of Handwritten and/or Typed Story and Sketch Ideas, 1930s-1940s. All conceived of and penned by the actor himself including: 1) a document titled "Fido the Beautiful Dog," 15 tan-colored pages, handwritten in black fountain pen ink on the front sides only, starting with "Big and frightfully dopey / looking dog...," story gets more elaborate as it goes on, numerous cross-outs and changes evident throughout; 2) a document titled "Restaurant Scene," three tan-colored pages, handwritten in pencil on the front sides only, mentioning a character named "Callett" as well as a "Catlett" who was the actor's real-life friend, Walter Catlett; 3) a document partially titled "Shorty Duke," ten tan-colored pages, handwritten in black and green fountain pen ink as well as in pencil on the front sides only, outlining snippets of funny ideas and dialogue with characters named "Shorty Duke, Big Duke, Gump, Lady Deasey Col. Rothlewistle" and "Sir Marmaduke" among a few others; 4) a document titled "Idea for Bolins Scenery" and "Foot O'Play," one page, handwritten in black fountain pen ink on the front side only, brief outline of ideas; 5) one page of 'Great Northern Hotel / New York' stationery, handwritten in blue fountain pen ink on front and back sides, starting with text reading "Nifty old gentleman enters hotel / office with gorgeously dressed woman...;" 6) one page of 'Manger Hotels / New York' stationery, handwritten in pencil on front side only, starting with "In telephone scene...;" 7) three page typed document, titled "The Sport Model," with annotations penned in green fountain pen ink throughout; and 8) two page typed document, titled "The Patriotic Politician," with annotations penned in black fountain pen ink throughout -- overall, very detailed notes and ideas direct from Fields' brain - they really must be read in their entirety to be appreciated!
