A Stan Laurel Group of Signed Letters, Postcards, and Photos, Circa 1960s. A fantastic group of assorted ephemera from the last years of comedic legend Stan Laurel, including two typed letters, and four typed postcards, all signed "Stan" in black fountain ink, and addressed to Al Kilgore, noted cartoonist and founding member of Laurel and Hardy fan club/appreciation society "The Sons of the Desert" - he even designed the crest of the organization; the letters, each including its original mailing envelope, are dated "October 3rd, 1960" and "March 11th, 1961;" the 1960 letter is printed on blue Stan Laurel letterhead, and in its contents Laurel addresses a question as to his favorite among the films he's made: "Al, I frankly have no particular choice, in fact, I never gave it much thought - didn't make them for my own pleasure, tried to please all types of audiences;" the postcards' dates range from December 19, 1960 through January 10, 1963; also included are two black and white snapshots, dated "Mar - 65," one depicting an elderly Laurel and friend, the other showing Stan Laurel's monogrammed trunk.
