A Marilyn Monroe Signed Black and White Photograph, Circa 1956. An original print with a matte finish, depicting the star in one of her most famous publicity poses, signed in blue ballpoint ink on the left side "To Joe / Love and Kisses / Marilyn Monroe;" the verso has a handwritten annotation in black ballpoint ink reading "Marilyn Monroe / Passed away 8/5/62." (Please note there is yellow staining on the right side at MM's shoulder and above it, there is wrinkling on three of the four corners, and there is a very small tear in the white margin on the middle right side but it does not go into the actual image.)

PROVENANCE:
The "Joe" noted above was Joe Zable, a longtime security guard at 20th Century Fox who struck up a lasting, professional friendship with Monroe. His niece consigned this piece directly to Heritage Auctions and she remembers her uncle often saying that Marilyn was "a gal for the ages" and that she was beautiful and always kind.
